Bottle caps are often so small that it's too easy to overlook the lasting impact they have on the environment. If you drop one or two in the park or on the beach, you may think it's not a big deal.
But plastic bottle caps are one of the top 10 items found during marine debris beach clean-ups and are the second most littered item after cigarette butts.
So, it's litter. It's not great to look at, but why does it matter?
It does matter - a lot. According to the Sea Turtle Conservancy, over 100 million marine animals are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean.
